Our research team conducts research in collaboration with the four universities

01

Vertical farming becomes significantly more economical with Genoptic SmartLumen technology, as infrastructure costs are significantly reduced. Equipment, energy, efficiency, and lighting requirements are drastically reduced. Genoptic is 50% more efficient than conventional lighting systems.

02

According to a study by the University of Guelph, the use of Genoptic Smart Lumen technology resulted in a significant 20-40% increase in crop yield across all tested plant varieties

03

Our next-generation solutions integrate state-of-the-art indoor grow lighting to ensure optimal crop yields, plant health, safety and energy efficiency.

Together with our digital suite, these innovations enable sustainable agricultural productivity to meet the demands of a changing world.

Genoptic markets Genoptic Smart Lumen™ worldwide, grants licenses, and its team is available to advise start-ups.

Genoptic Smart Lumen SPV Inc. is a newly formed wholly owned subsidiary of Genoptic LED Inc. in Calgary.

The first industrial-scale production facility is being built in Claresholm. For this purpose, we purchased a vacant commercial property with over 4,000 m² of floor space, which is ideally suited to our needs. In the project, which will consist of five halls, we will continue to conduct research alongside the cultivation of vegetables, herbs, and berries.

Plant well-being

The project in Alberta, Claresholm

Food production is our greatest ecological challenge; soon 10 billion people will have to be fed.

Our vertical farm with Genoptic Smart Lumen tm technology is part of the solution. Here, we can produce significantly more on less space. The crucial point: it's cost-effective. Our products are tastier and more nutritious, while maintaining consistently high quality. We harvest locally – regardless of the seasons and weather conditions. In fact, in Alberta, we could largely supply the entire city of Calgary, with over one million inhabitants, with sustainable lettuce and herb cultivation on an area the size of just 20 football fields. And this would – keyword renaturation – return farmland to nature instead.

Sustainability is not just about CO2

When we talk about becoming more sustainable, it's not just about reducing CO2 emissions. The path to sustainability is a continuous transition to new and better forms of food production.

We do this by not using pesticides, reducing our water consumption by up to 250 liters per kilo of our production, not discharging nutrients into rivers and streams, ensuring local production with consistently high quality all year round, basing all our production on renewable energies and growing significantly more on less land, so that we can release agricultural land to nature.

If, at the same time, we can produce vegetables of such high quality that we prefer to eat plant-based foods, we have created a new structure for the entire production chain – and thus obviously a truly sustainable choice.
